A cooking demonstration can be useful even before anyone repeats the recipe at home. Watching how a cook organizes ingredients, explains a choice or responds when a texture changes reveals decisions that a written ingredient list can leave out. Louisville Free Public Library's Yes, Chef! program creates a public setting for that learning.
The Chef-in-Residence program at Northeast Regional Library connects residents with chefs, bakers, culinary artists and other food creators. The Maker Pavilion's demonstration kitchen hosts library-sponsored classes and demonstrations, and the library describes the workshops as free. Individual programs have their own dates, age guidance and registration requirements.
Use the current Yes, Chef! calendar rather than an earlier residency announcement to find the next available session. A featured chef from spring or summer is not necessarily presenting now. Contact Northeast Regional at 502-394-0379 about accessibility, attendance or a particular ingredient concern before registering.
The demonstration kitchen is for library-sponsored programming, rather than an ordinary reservable home-cooking workspace. Bring a question about technique and take notes on the reason behind a step. Any tasting or hands-on portion depends on the specific listing. Afterward, a modest home experiment can test one idea without trying to recreate an entire class from memory.
